Materials

  • Fabric for the sun Stuffing (for the sun's body)
  • Fabric scraps for cheeks and eye
  • Embroidery thread & embroidery needle

For this project, you will also need some crafting essentials:

  • Sewing machine (can also be sewn by hand)

  • Pin it to your bulletin board, infusing your workspace with a burst of creativity.

Got Questions about making the Sun Ornament?

What type of fabric can I use for my fabric Sun ornament?

You have the option to use either glitter fabric or other synthetic materials, felt, or cotton/linen for your fabric sun ornament.

Whatever fabric you choose, I suggest sewing Interlining (Vlieseline) on the back to ensure the sun retains its lovely shape and becomes more durable, allowing you to stuff it with stuffing without worrying about the stitches coming undone.

Can I make the Sun without a sewing machine?

This sewing pattern is intended for creating the sun using a sewing machine, but you can definitely hand-sew it if you prefer. The process remains the same; you simply sew it together with small stitches by hand.

Can I make the Sun without knowing how to embroider?

The short answer is YES! This pattern includes a mini embroidery guide. You can also find a lot of how-to videos on YouTube if you need additional help. Look for "back stitches," "stem stitches," or "chain stitches."
