Decorate with fabric Advent Wreaths

I have quite a few homemade fabric advent wreaths that I use in various places in our home. Here are a few ideas for how to decorate with your homemade christmas wreath:

  • Place the fabric Advent wreath in the center of your dining or coffee table as a captivating and festive centerpiece.

  • Nestle the wreath among your favorite books on a bookshelf for a charming display.

  • Showcase the wreath on a side table or cabinet in your living room, enhancing the holiday spirit in your gathering space.

Got Questions about making a fabric Advent Wreath?

What fabric should I use for a Christmas advent wreath?

You can use any type of fabric for your DIY Christmas wreath. For the base, I recommend using either sturdy cotton or other sturdy fabric.

If you’re using a synthetic or thin fabric, I recommend ironing on some interlining/vlieseline to the backside. For both the base of the wreath and the candles, it needs to withstand being stuffed with toy filling

How much fabric do I need for a Christmas advent wreath?

The amount of fabric you need for a Christmas advent wreath will depend on the size of the wreath you want to make. For a wreath with a 20 cm diameter, you will need approximately 20x60 cm. For the candles, fabric scraps are enough

Can I make this advent wreath without a sewing machine?

For this advent wreath craft, I recommend using a sewing machine. I think for a lot of projects, the handmade look is super cozy and personal. However, for the advent wreath, there’s quite a lot of sewing, and the stitches need to be able to withstand being stuffed with toy filling, which makes the sewing machine your friend.

How long will a fabric advent wreath last?

A homemade fabric advent wreath can last for several years if it is handled and stored with care. When in use, keep it away from direct sunlight as the fabric might fade. When not in use, store the wreath in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. Consider wrapping it in tissue paper or cloth to protect it from dust and debris.
