  • Scissors (decorative scissors optional)
  • Glue gun

DIY Guide for crepe paper rosettes

1. Cut a rectangle in crepe paper

Cut a rectangle in crepe paper following the measurements below. I've made 2 different sizes:

Large (diameter 12 cm): Cut a rectangle of 35 x 12 cm

Small (diameter 10 cm): Cut a rectangle of 35 x 10 cmGuide to easy crepe paper rosettes - step 1

Fold the crepe paper

The rosettes will have 2 layers of paper. Fold your rectangle lengthwise and cut a small wavy edge if you have a pair of decorative scissors. If not, then just fold the rectangle and move on to the next step.

Sew along the edge of the paper

Now for the very easy trick that will speed up the process of making your rosettes. Set your sewing machine to the longest stitch length (mine was on 5). Sew along the edge with a small seam allowance. You do NOT need to secure the ends. If you don't have a sewing machine, you can also just hand-stitch it.

Make pleats

Gently pull the bobbin thread and create pleats. Pull and push a little at a time until the pleats are evenly distributed. I usually pull halfway from both ends.

Assemble the rosette

Put the rosette together by applying glue with a glue gun. Don't worry if there's a small hole in the middle; we'll cover it with decorations.

Decoration for crepe paper rosettes

Time for the most enjoyable step – decorating the crepe paper rosettes! For this, I created a small circle using gold cardboard and adorned it with vintage beads. Adding a touch of elegance, I sprinkled a bit of gold glitter along the edges of the rosette. To hang it beautifully, attach a string or a lovely ribbon, and voilà, your rosette is ready to be displayed!
